Marrickville

As much as we’d like to say that Marrickville has an interesting origin to its name, it turns out that it originates from some boring guy's boring estate that he named Marrick. All we can say is, BOOOOOOOO. Founded in 1855 if that interests you.

Marrickville has a very nice area for Vietnamese food known as “Little Vietnam”. This place is so famous that its somehow managed to convince many Sydney-siders that the real name of “Banh Mi” is “Marrickville Pork Roll”.

In all seriousness, Marrickville is a fantastic area if you’re looking for a balance between commercial and suburban life. But did you know that Marrickville has its roots in dairy farming and milk production? Turns out, that boring guy’s milkshake used to bring all the boys AND the girls to his yard.

However, the degree of yard-attraction had faltered by the end of the 1860s and so, the boring guy pivoted to factories and industrial undertakings. Soon after, several clothing, food and iron factories started to pop up in the area and eventually, General Motors opened their first factory in 1927 in the area.

Today, Marrickville is best known for being the only burger on our Menu with Swiss cheese 😉. Give a try if you haven’t 💋
