Ashfield

Ashfield has a rich history that spans from the early 1800s but it wasn’t until 1855 when the first Sydney railway line opened that the area we know as Ashfield today really started to expand.

Today, Ashfield is a fantastic place to get all sorts of different cuisines of food, but we still recommend you take a small stroll down to the railway station, get on a train to redfern and get the best burgs in the ‘burbs instead 😉

The oldest building in Ashfield is the St. John’s Church, being completed in 1841 and still standing today. Thats 184 years of being a completely functional, habitable structure while your apartment building starts falling apart a year after being built.

Ashfield also holds an interesting history in the industrial space, housing the Australian six motor car factory as well as a “Peak Freens” biscuit factory. We’ll be honest, we’re not fully sure what either of these things exactly are but we’ve been assured that someone would find this interesting…
